CONTEXT
The American Cancer Society commissioned us to design and manufacture a reusable sculpture for the annual Hope Gala.
Key Insights
The client’s needs were distilled into clear requirements: the sculpture must detach from the base for easy storage, support floral installations, and display numerous picture frames honoring individuals. With critical hard-points identified, we reimagined the symbolic awareness ribbon as a 3D-printed sculpture, transforming its familiar form into a powerful and novel centerpiece.
Using parametric design tools, we explored visual directions through an iterative process.
application
The sculpture was crafted from custom-formulated Pantone Lavender PETG, symbolizing unity in the fight against all cancers. Creating this custom lavender color was a significant but rewarding challenge.

An interwoven texture was designed to evoke themes of togetherness and support.
impact
Its modular, reusable design ensures continued use at future events.
The sculpture became the gala’s cornerstone, embodying unity and hope. It invites interaction and conversation, connecting people through shared purpose—merging artistry with meaningful, lasting impact.
